Not everyone knows which horse fencing material they want by the time they start shopping around. With so many things to take into consideration, like the durability and safety, the horse fence you choose is a long-term decision. Consider it an investment, in which case you don’t want to be replacing it often.

Understandably, you want to know which materials for horse fencing are considered to be the best, so here is a brief overview.

1. Wood

This is a well-known and common choice for horse fencing. Not only has it been used for horse fencing it is also the preferred choice for garden fencing too. People are often quick to choose wooden horse fencing, but its not actually the best choice. The number one concern is the fact it is bad for the environment. Wooden fences often have to be replaced quite frequently which contributes to the environmental damage.

2. Plastic

Plastic is a modern-day alternative to the traditional wooden horse fencing, and it is a great choice. When you opt for plastic horse fencing you know you’re getting something that not only looks great, but also helps the environment too. If we all stopped using wood as much and opted for plastic instead, we would all help the environment. It is a good idea to try plastic horse fencing if you haven’t done so before, as you might be pleasantly surprised at just how good it is.

3. Barbed Wire

This is less common these days but it is still an option. Some would argue that barbed wire is bad simply for the horse’s sake, as the animals could hurt themselves on it. Anyone with young children would have to keep them away from the fence, so surely the best horse fencing solution is to choose something safer like plastic.
There are other horse fencing options, such as the electric fence, PVC fence and vinyl fence, but taking into consideration the above, it is the plastic fence which is the most appealing, and indeed suitable, option.
