It’s not a luxury for some pet owners to have pet doors installed in their home, despite what some may think. It’s a very real need, especially for owners with troublesome pets. If you have one dog that keeps trying to get out, you might be kept up all night by its whining. If you have a yard it can play on when supervised, it might want to keep going there. Now, imagine having several dogs bugging you nonstop in an attempt to get outside.

Potty accidents – despite having a potty station set up for them, they’ll do just this

Getting cabin fever, is seems, is something that’s not limited to people. Keep a pet long enough in your house and you’ll feel that it feels imprisoned. Pets could still be marking every other un-peed-upon area in your home, even if they have to do that repeatedly. You may have to do a lot of tidying up. It’s bad enough that one’s laundry basket can smell of sweat and all, but to add your pet’s pee scent that? That’s bad. So will your lower bookshelves. It gets worse – if your computer’s CPU is on the floor beside your desk, that too might get peed on.

You furniture will get scratched – it’s fact of life with cabin-feverish pets

Even if you can’t always tell what pets do outdoors, you’ll quickly get an idea what they’re suppose to do outdoors when they keep doing that indoors, with you paying the price. Let’s move on to the potty accidents section. Now about your indoor furniture and installations, aside from getting peed on, they may be used as scratching posts as well. Never mind if you’ve set up scratching posts near their pet bed. Expect yanked down curtains and claw marks where you don’t want to see them.

Tumbled over items – you may need to clean up more often than not

If cats can jump on your lap, they can jump on to higher places.
Such as on the table and on to higher book shelves. Don’t leave unwashed dishes and not tightly capped bottles or you’ll find them rummaged through or spilled when you get home. Expect books and other mementos on the floor, scattered, when you get home. A vase or two will be broken. Was that lampshade expensive – yes. There should be a warning when buying fragile breakable items: warning, this may not survive a bored pet.

At least one pet door is need to let your pets have the exercise and fun they need. That means les clean up and all over tidying for you – you’ll be glad to have gotten that pet door, trust me. If you have a big house or a garden, that means your pets can have more space to round around in and have fun. So that means you may need not just one but a couple of pet doors.
