Many pet owners grab a bag of treats off the grocery store shelf without considering the nutritional values. Gourmet dog treats are significantly dissimilar to the store bought treats in respect to quality and organic ingredients.

The amount of by-products, sodium and sugars used should be given careful thought before purchasing any type food or treats for your dog.

Painstaking attention is devoted to the specialty dog treats beginning with selection of ingredients to the final results. Recipes have been tested and tried for several months before the product is ready to market.

Omega 6, a derivative of Canola oil an ingredient used in specialty treats, has been found to be essential supplement for your dogs immune system, and in addition, relieves inflammatory disorders such as arthritis. The alternative used for chocolate is carob, a substance that resembles chocolate but not at all hazardous to your fur kid.

Your dog may experience adverse reactions to ingredients found in the commercial products.
What’s the best way to treat your dog and show him you love him? That’s easy—give him a dog treat that is far from the traditional. Learn more about how gourmet dog treats can be the best way to treat your dog and show them you truly love them.

We humans are far from the only ones who can enjoy interesting treats outside the monotonous diet regime we usually have. Gourmet treats are available for dogs in many varieties just as they are for humans, and if you own a dog and want to treat it to something different and extraordinary, have a look at our list of ideas for interesting gourmet dog treats below.

A meal doesn’t have to be prepared in a fancy way and with all sorts of extras to be put away and not eaten – dogs don’t appreciate the aesthetic value of food as much as us, but they definitely do appreciate a good-tasting meal. This means that you can usually find some very attractive gourmet dog treat offers at reasonable prices and you can keep your buddy well-fed with continuously varied meals without having to shell out a large pile of cash.

Finding the right treats can be tricky though – just like us, dogs have all sorts of different tastes and preferences, and satisfying your own is a matter of knowing what it wants exactly. Most professional gourmet dog treat manufacturers realize this and offer small-sized packages for most of their products, so that you can run them through your dog and see which ones it prefers.

Baking goods are among the most appreciated treats among dogs – there are even some companies that specialize in baking for dogs entirely. If you don’t have a place like this around you, you should be able to order some products of this kind on the Internet. Make sure you order them from a nearby location though, as baking goods tend to spoil quite quickly and if you’re ordering them ready-made you’ll want them to arrive as quickly as possible.

Allergies are the main concern for most people shopping for gourmet dog treats. If you’re not sure what kinds of foods your dog’s organism can cope with yet, it’s best to stay on the safe side and minimize the amount of additives and chemicals used in the gourmet dog treats you’re buying.

It’s very likely that your dog will be able to handle most foods without a problem, but until you’re absolutely sure what it can digest without triggering an allergic reaction, take things slowly step by step and always consult your veterinarian if you suspect something may be wrong. Although a reaction is highly unlikely it is something to watch out for.

How can you create the perfect doggie gift basket? It’s easier than you might think and while you may want to pay a company for a professionally made one it’s still important to know how to do it yourself. Read on to learn a lot more

Dogs are like people—and that means that they always enjoy gifts. Doggie gift baskets are great presents for your dog’s birthday or Christmas present. This article will tell you how to assemble the perfect doggie gift basket for your beloved dog in no time.

When you start making your doggie gift basket for your dog, make sure that you have a basket handy. A nice wicker basket seems to work the best. Always remember to put practical items in the basket that your dog would actually enjoy.

A bone is an essential item to put in a doggie gift basket. While there are many bones available, some of the best bones for your dog are dental bones. Your dog will love this kind of bone and it will also clean its mouth and freshen the breath. That’s what I call a win-win situation! If your dog just isn’t interested in a dental bone, a good rawhide bone is always another option.

A sweater for your dog is another fun present to put in a doggie gift basket and especially useful during the winter months. Make sure to not get a sweater that is too bulky for your dog, otherwise it will prevent them from being able to walk around normally. This often will result in your dog trying to get the sweater off.

A third and final item that will always be appreciated by your dog is a dog treat and will help if you need to train them. A good brand of dog treats are Milkbone. These are available in various sizes and flavors. A popular flavor that always seems to go over well is the Bacon flavor.

Hopefully now you know how to create a doggie gift basket that will please your dog. Whether it be a Border Collie or a Chihuahua, all the items mentioned are sure to please any dog. Don’t be afraid to get creative with the presentation or with the items within your basket.

What dog does not love getting a treat or two now and then. Dog owners also love giving their dogs treats. If you have a dog, then you have a good idea of what your dog likes to nibble on. There are so many treats available these days and they all come in all different shapes, sizes, colors and consistency. For every great dog treat, there are some treats in the market that are not so good. These treats can harm your pet by being stuck in dogs throat or intestines. This may cause choking or worse. If you love treating your canine friend, you will want to be aware of the goodies that can be potentially harmful. Even with treats that are not usually dangerous, you must monitor your dog when they eat.

Greenies: Most dogs really enjoy these treats. They are offered as a treat to help your dog’s teeth clean. However, please be aware that the greenies can cause suffocation. This is because dogs eat these very quickly get large chunks to lodge in the throat. Young puppies should not eat this treatment, and dogs that are prone to scarfing food. If your dog eats these treats, be aware of potential vomiting, bloody stools, and difficulty breathing. If you notice any of these symptoms after your dog has eaten this treat, seek medical attention.

Rawhide chews: What dog does not love snacking on these chewy treats? Rawhide is good because it cleans your dog’s teeth and keep your dog occupied. But rawhides are dangerous as well. A quantity of rawhides that come from places outside the U.S. may actually be preserved with arsenic-based chemicals that will be captured by your doggie when he or she chews. For this reason, make sure that any rawhide treat your purchase is processed in the United States where this preservative is forbidden. If you can not tell where a treat originated do not buy it! In addition, you still need to watch your dog when he her she is munching rawhide to prevent suffocation. Make sure you buy rawhides the right size for your dog. A small dog needs small sized rawhide treats.

Chocolate: Chocolate is a terrible thing to allow dogs to eat. Of course, sometimes dogs get into candy and cake without your knowledge. Chocolate is toxic to both dogs and cats, so you should be aware of your dog sneaking chocolate snacks, especially around the holidays. Chocolate contains an ingredient called theobromine. This works in the dog about the same way caffeine acts in the human. Little will make doggie hyperactive, but a large dose can be fatal. If your dog has gotten into chocolate, look for vomiting, shallow breathing and irregular heartbeat. A visit to the emergency vet may result.

Bones: It seems that it is right for any dog to be able to munch on a real bone from time to time. Dogs love bones of all kinds. However, some bones may be dangerous. Both chicken and turkey bones are especially dangerous because they are brittle. When your dog chews on them, they can easily splinter and cause choking. Some pork and beef bones can also cause the same problem. Veterinarians agree that one of the safest bones you can give your dog is a tibia. If you need to give your dog a bone, make sure you supervise your pooch and if he or she shows signs of bleeding, you should call your vet immediately for advice.

This is not to say you can not give your dog an occasional treat. This is one of the fun parts of owning a dog. You should watch your dog and ensure that your dog is safe when snacking. Always pay attention to what kind of treat you give your dog in the event of a recall.

There are hundreds of thousands of dogs surrendered to shelters and dog homes each week, through out the state. The most people who owned them didn’t set out to have to submit their dog, but something went horribly wrong with the relationship between the dog and its human family.

Too many folks don’t take dog possession seriously enough. They think that their pet will just turn out alright, with very little input. The cute little puppy dog rapidly grows into a stressing and boisterous adolescent, and the humans have no idea how to deal with it.

If you have a pet in your house, you are accountable for its health and wellbeing, safety and training. A trained dog is a joy to have around and adds a fresh dimension to your life. A trained dog has very good manners, is friendly to your visitors and becomes a welcome partner as you go about your day-to-day programs.

An untrained animal, on the other hand, is not a joy to have around your residence; it has no manners, demonstrations improper habits around other people and is very unlikely to take out with you. These pets are often tagged problem animals, difficult, unmanageable and disobedient. They are relegated to the back yard, deprived of company, chained up and sometimes surrendered to animal shelters because the humans in their life can’t cope with their habits and don’t understand how to fix it.

When should you start to train a young puppy?

Training can start once you bring your new puppy home. She is going to be feeling a little lost and alone; she’s been parted from her litter pals / buddies for the first time and taken to a completely new environment. Her new home will appear, sound and smell completely different to everything she’s ever known.

Put yourself in the pup’s place for a moment. How would you feel if you were taken away from the only life you knew, by people you had never known before, and put in a place that was completely alien to you?

I’m sure you would howl and cry a bit too!

Have a place fixed aside for the puppy, that she can call her own. Have it out of the way, in a draught-free spot, but close enough to the action in the house that she can hear you.

Make her a nice, nice bed out of something lovable, like an old, tidy blanket. Have a soft toy that she can call her own – a puppy is used to having warm bodies to sleep against and cuddle up to. An old ticking clock, wrapped in a towel is a excellent idea; the sound mimics her mother’s heart beat and will be relaxing for the first few nights in her completely new home. Normally, a hot water bottle, partly filled with warm water helps a new dog settle down.

Round her bed, spread newspapers on the floor. A dog will never soil or wet her bed, and the paper is the start of toilet training your pup. A dog must urinate and poop, just like you do. She does not know where you want her to do it, unless you show her. There will be accidents, always, so take that.

Don’t punish your pup for toilet accidents; just wash it up without any fuss and take her out to her toilet spot more often. Whenever you take your puppy outside to her toilet spot, always go out the same door; put some newspapers down at this door as she will quickly associate that as way to her toilet spot. Be vigilant with a young dog ? walk her outside often enough to avoid accidents. If she starts to sniff around one spot, she needs to go!

Learn how to easily train your dog

If you?ve never seen a dog with serious food-guarding problems, it?s tough to appreciate the potential severity of the problem. Food-guarding issues don’t seem to be necessarily a reflection on the temperament or training level of the dog: it?s an instinctive issue, and though dogs with a general aggression downside are naturally additional liable to demonstrating the condition, it?s conjointly exhibited by otherwise-sweet, well-behaved, well-adjusted family dogs.

Like an evil djinn, the matter can rear its ugly head only when food (or the food bowl) is present: a real case of Jekyll and Hyde. A dog with serious food-guarding issues can be a real danger to anyone who should approach her during a meal: it?s not a state of affairs in which you’ll be able to expect to train your dog to ?play nice?. Instinct is what?s compelling her to act during this undesirable, and even dangerous, manner ? you need to require steps to turn the behavior around before your relationship along with your dog suffers or someone gets hurt.

There are totally different degrees of food guarding. In the mildest case, a dog can merely tense up a very little or freeze if somebody approaches her while she?s attempting to eat. She may even continue eating, however her posture can be rigid and stiff: she?ll clearly be uncomfortable. Signs that the problem is a lot of severe would include a marked increase in eating speed, a right away, arduous stare right at you (usually amid a still, tense, ?watching? posture), a lifted lip, a snarl, a snap, and eventually a true bite.

NOTE: A dog exhibiting any of those last three symptoms encompasses a pretty severe case of food-guarding aggression, and might be ready to inflict actual harm.

If this is the case along with your dog, hiring a hands-on trainer might be the best answer for you: it?ll guarantee your safety, and that they?ll be in a position to examine your overall relationship along with your dog and see if there are other areas contributing to the problem.

A food-guarding dog could be a pretty confused one. In her mind, she?s got your role mixed up. She fails to acknowledge that you’re the dispenser of food (that ought to accord you automatic alpha-dog status, guaranteeing your immunity from any quite aggression or dominance), and instead is viewing you as a threat: a blackguard who might be going to require away her precious food. Hence, the possessiveness. The degree of aggression that a food-guarding dog is capable of may be onerous to understand, till you think about the very fact that food is one amongst the greatest pleasures of your dog?s life.

Dogs are scavengers by nature: they?re programmed to eat just about something they can get their jaws around. Also because the instinctiveness of this gluttony, most dogs additionally merely fancy the tactile and gustatory sensations that include a smart meal (or an indifferent one .. and typically even a bad one). They solely ? wish to eat. And it?s this overwhelming importance that?s placed on food that gets some dogs a bit immersed: their grasp of true gets a small amount thrown off, and they begin to marvel, miser-like, who would possibly happen upon them and take away their cherished food.

The plain conclusion: you. Or anyone else who comes along at meal-time. To cure her of this frustrating and antisocial habit, you would like to remind her that you simply?re truly the purveyor of that which she holds therefore dear: to create it clear to her that you?re the one accountable for the kitchen, and of all the delightful morsels contained therein.

Dogs can develop food-guarding instincts at any point in their lives: some can have had the matter since puppyhood, but for others the tendency lies dormant until it?s awakened by an item of explicit juiciness.

For most dogs, the deciding issue is meat, in some form or form ? whether it?s a marrowbone, a mutton hock, or solid-off scraps from the dinner table. Meat to dogs is like cash to humans: it will change them, make them do things they otherwise wouldn?t do. Therefore it?s not entirely surprising that the intrinsic worth of meat-related foodstuffs will provide our dogs a replacement, unpleasantly skewed perspective on the sanctity of the food-bowl. Because of the chance of food-guarding becoming an issue in your dog?s behavior at any purpose in her life, prevention is clearly the perfect path to require: whether or not you get your dog from puppyhood or adopt her as an adult from a shelter, you must create a purpose of approaching her throughout mealtime.

Have you ever ever heard an exponent with dogs ask you to ?leave her alone when she?s eating?? This can be a short-term solution at most: it?ll forestall something untoward from happening, provided that every one the humans play by the principles and ensure that they don?t disturb the dog ? however the dog is still the one calling all the shots. And what will happen if the surprising occurs? What if a toddler charges full-tilt towards the dog and makes a playful grab for her bowl?

In a very wolf-pack, the alpha dog is never disturbed when he or she is eating. Not only will she get to eat 1st, and eat the lion?s share of everything; however she or he also eats undisturbed. This is often why a dog that?s permitted to eat in solitary splendor can truly become additional food-aggressive, not less; while not anyone to require her down a notch, she begins to assume a lot of authority than she really has. To forestall your dog from obtaining an overinflated sense of her own importance, create positive you disturb her plenty while she?s eating. Don?t make a purpose of tiptoeing around whenever the food bowl?s out; it?ll just accustom her to solitude and silence when she eats (that are things that only the alpha wolf or dog is entitled to).

At the other end of the spectrum, don?t build these disturbances a negative expertise for her either, or else you will really create a drawback where none previously existed. All you have got to try and do is approach her sometimes whereas she eats ? beginning from the very day you bring her into your home ? and add one thing tasty (and tiny!) to her dish whereas she?s eating, to make the association in her head that ?humans approaching food bowl = good news?. A spoonful of scrambled egg, a bit of liver treat, a few chunks of cheese ? anything that she?ll enjoy, and that has a larger ?food worth? than the kibble she?s eating, can work perfectly.

In fact, if it?s too late for preventatives and your dog already incorporates a downside, you?ll want to adopt a very totally different approach. Here?s what to do: ? The dog bowl goes to be put away for the next seven to ten days. Over this time, you?re visiting be feeding your dog by hand ? one tiny handful at a time. Yes, I know this can be visiting be time-consuming, but the alternative is even worse: a dangerous dog that can?t be trusted around food. Thus feed her by hand for the subsequent week or so. Be sure not to encourage any greedy snapping or grabbing for the food: solely permit her to take the food from your hand when she does therefore gently. Remind her that bite inhibition is important to induce what she wants!

Once a minimum of every week has passed and she?s eating politely from your hand, you’ll be able to reintroduce the food bowl, with one slight modification: it has to be empty. And it stays empty till you pass by and drop a little few kibble into it for her to eat. When that?s been polished off, wait a minimum of a full minute before adding another, tiny, handful of kibble.

Keep doing this till the whole meal?s been consumed ? this can be a terribly effective method of teaching your dog to actively long for your presence close to her food bowl!

When she?s graduated to a higher stage, you’ll start setting down a half-empty food bowl for her. Don?t let her lunge at the bowl and start gobbling: holding the bowl out of reach (or placing it on a handy counter), create her sit and wait before you allow her to eat. Don?t place the bowl down till she complies. Sit or crouch beside the bowl and continue to add small handfuls of kibble, just as you did in step two, until a full meal?s been eaten.

The fourth, and final, step is to permit her access to a full food bowl. Again, it?s very necessary that you do not enable her to call the shots: she must sit and wait till you unleash her with an ?OK!? before she?s permitted to eat. To stay the message clear in your head that you’re answerable for the food in this house, follow calling her removed from her food some times a week and rewarding her with a brilliant-tasty treat for her exemplary obedience whereas she?s trying to eat.

If at any time your dog?s behavior gets shaky on any of these four steps, backslide until you?ve reached the stage at that she is a hundred% reliable. Wait at this stage for at least 2 or 3 additional days before attempting to progress once more. Like any training, it?s essential that a solid foundation is constructed before moving on to the next level ? she must be fully comfy with each step before attempting a brand new one.

Give your dog a bone about twice a week as a special treat. Dogs love large beef bones, raw chicken necks, and the tips off chicken wings. If you are not sure how long they have been in the supermarket case, douse them with boiling water to kill any bacteria before feeding.

The benefit of feeding bones is that they give your dog beautiful, pearly white teeth that do not need to be cleaned. However, feeding too many bones will give him constipation and hard, chalky stools. Also, be careful to give your dog only large bones that cannot splinter.

When you give your dog a bone, leave him alone. Dogs get possessive about their bones. They are one of the few items that may cause dogs to growl at you if you try to take one away from them. It is a very special treat, and he wants to be in a place to relax and enjoy it. Let your dog go to his crate, which is the perfect place for him to enjoy his bone in peace. Give him a few hours to indulge himself. After a few days of chewing a fresh bone, it loses its magic, and most dogs will allow you to pick them up or handle them.

These treats are baked fresh when ordered, so they will take a week or so to arrive. Order some for your pup and all his neighborhood friends. These are guaranteed to be a hit at your Halloween festivities.

I’ve tried these for my spoiled pups and they simply love them. I store them in a sealed bag in the refrigerator because they do have yogurt icing and this keeps them fresh. These treats are softer than a milk bone, so they shouldn’t have a problem with these being too hard. One of my pups is a little fussy, so I have to bite them in pieces for her. Only human grade ingredients, so I have no problem doing that. I admit it, I did eat one bite – they were delicious!

My best friend is incredible!?She?s one of those rare types who hangs on every word you say.?She?s content to be quiet when I need stillness, even though she?s one of those high-drive types.?All I have to do is call and she?s there in an instant, no matter what she was doing before.?She puts me ahead of all her other friends, never fails to make me feel special, and is a redhead just like me.?But she?s not a person, even though she?s sure she is.?She is a butterfly dog; a Papillon.?

When I brought this eight-week-old bundle of joy home, I didn?t know what to call her.?I?m not very good at naming anything, so I usually just observe for a couple of weeks and let the animal name itself by its personality.?This puppy?s name became evident in nothing flat:?Tazzie.?She whirled around the house, jumping up on furniture five times her size, zooming and zipping and totally charming me. She was, indeed, a Tasmanian devil pup.?I quickly realized the athleticism of this dog and knew I?d have to find her a ?job? when she got a little older.?High-drive dogs, that don?t have ?jobs,? will certainly find other outlets for their energy and those outlets aren?t usually things you would enjoy!?

You already have a burning love for your puppy, but what is your relationship like??Does it come when you call it??Does it sit or lay or stay??From your first class, at your dog training school, your relationship with your dog begins to change.?I will warn you, however, that anything you want to teach your dog won?t come just with a once-a-week class, even if you have the best dog training school in the world.?You have to practice with them, just a little bit, every day.?

Tazzie was a very food-motivated dog, so the fact that she got food every time she did something right made training a blast for her, all by itself.?And this happened every day!?Bonus!?She made fast friends at her new dog training school, so going to class was fun as well.?She got to where she would whine, as soon as we pulled in the parking lot, until I finally got her out of that car.

So now you?re taking your dog to classes in a place they love, and you?re working with them every day.?During that time, you?re paying complete attention to them, teaching them to pay complete attention to you, and they get their favorite food as icing on the cake.?This does incredible things for the bond between you and your dog.?They learn to focus on you, no matter what, and good things will come.?They get praised and fed, or praised and allowed to tug on a toy, whichever motivates the dog more, so your relationship can?t help but blossom.?

Ever since Tazzie and I started training together, she has claimed me as her own.?When my other two dogs want to sit on my lap, she?ll push them out of the way to get the best spot because, I am her property, as far as she?s concerned. I do give the other dogs personal time as well, but I have to put her in a sit/stay or a down/stay so she?ll let them come get love.?

She is, by far, the one I can trust the most, not only because of her training, but from the bond we gained through the training.?She never takes her eyes off of me, since we began at our dog training school, and it serves us well in the agility ring!?

If you want to forever alter and solidify the bond you share with your dog, find yourself a good dog training school, for whatever discipline you prefer, and go for it.?With a little time, money, and patience, your relationship will become a forever relationship.?If you do, your dog will turn out to be your best friend too!
